Candidates Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice covers the processing of personal information when you, the applicant, apply for a position at Bruker Corporation or its affiliated companies ("Bruker", "we” or "us") on www.bruker.com. You can find a list of the Bruker companies here, on the Bruker.com website. The Bruker company responsible for the collection and processing of your personal information during the selection process is the hiring company indicated in the job opening, or otherwise the company communicated by the hiring team during the interview process. If you are having trouble identifying the company responsible, you can submit a question at privacy@bruker.com.

1) For what purposes do we process your personal information?

  • To evaluate your application and your suitability for the role
  • To assess your eligibility to a specific job opening
  • To communicate with you about your application, including to invite you to a phone, video, in-person interview or any other assessment meeting or to offer you a position
  • To carry out references checks from former work employers, where required and as anticipated during the interview process
  • To perform background check screening against sanctions list[1], which may be required for specific positions; the necessity of a background check screening will be communicated to the applicant in advance
  • To prepare your employment offer and contract
  • To keep records related to your selection and hiring process
  • To contact you for future work opportunities, where you select to remain in our candidate database if we do not offer you a position or if you decline it
  • To collect aggregated statistics, for instance to monitor diversity and inclusion trends in the jurisdictions where it is legally required or permitted
  • To meet our legal and regulatory obligations in relation to the hiring and employment fields

2) What types of personal information do we collect about you?

We will only collect personal data about you that is necessary for the purposes identified in this Privacy Notice, in compliance with the law(s) applicable to you and to Bruker.

We collect and process the personal information relevant to take the necessary steps prior to extending an employment offer or entering a contract of employment with you, including (please note this list may be subject to variations depending on jurisdictions):   

  • Contact details, such as but not limited to Your first name, last name, phone number, email address, postal mail delivery address
  • CV/ Resume, Cover/ Motivation letter, Degrees, Certificates, Diplomas, Qualifications, and, where required, Transcripts
  • Residence / Address, Work Permit, Visa status/information; if Bruker is sponsoring your Visa additional information may be required depending on the country
  • Education and Employment history
  • References, including publications and performance information
  • Information necessary to invite you to any type of interviews, and to the organisation of your travel

Please note that if you decide not to provide the personal information necessary for the hiring process, our ability to evaluate your application will be negatively affected, this may keep us from moving forward with your application.

If you elect to provide additional personal information to us during the application process, and we find the information useful for the selection process, we may store such information in the application file. We will only collect such information because you voluntarily included it in your application, and it should never be included in the hiring process. Such information may include, but is not limited to:

  • Date of birth
  • Picture
  • Social Media handles
  • Family status
  • Hobbies and skills not work-related

Sensitive personal information, which under certain data protection laws require additional protection, will be processed if it is authorized by law or if it is necessary to comply with a specific legal requirement which will be communicated to you at the time of collection, or for a previously identified legitimate purpose if you priorly consented to it.

  • Health information, including any disability or request for accommodation due to disability
  • Nationality, in particular to assess whether a work permit and a visa will be necessary for the role, or to comply with export control regulations impacting the specific job opening (e.g., access to information related to restricted technologies US or EU laws and regulations)
  • In certain jurisdictions, banking information, previous salary, marital status, number of children
  • Background checks, including criminal records, to comply with immigration laws or position-specific requirements (e.g., credit history for accounting positions) where required by the laws applicable in the country of employment, and as communicated to the candidate in advance.

3) Where do we collect your personal information?

Directly from you, when you file an application online.

Indirectly, from third parties such as headhunters, authorities, or publicly available sources, when:

  • We review public information you published online only to the extent it is relevant to the assessment of your application and/or the recruitment process, for instance your postings on professional networking or career development platforms,
  • We check the references you authorized us to contact during the recruitment process,
  • We perform background check screenings against relevant sanction lists, as required or permitted by the applicable law(s)
  • We have received your application via a recruitment agency, and such agency shared with us any information they have collected from you according to their privacy notice.

4) How do we process your personal information?

By setting up a candidate user account on our Bruker Career Center accessible via the Bruker.com website, your data will be stored and processed primarily in our job application management system. Your information will be accessed by the HR team members relevant to the job opening, the Hiring Team (including the hiring manager).

As we operate at a global level, we may need to transfer personal information:

To other Bruker Group companies located in countries other than the ones in which the information was originally collected, in particular when the hiring manager and/or the Hiring Team are located in another country than the one where you will be employed. To one of our services providers, including but not limited to:

  • (i)  Office applications such as e-mail, calendar, and videoconferencing services
  • (ii) T Talent acquisition portal provider
  • (iii) Privacy management platform
  • (iv) Professional Social Media Platforms/ job boards

If you agree, we will include your CV or resume in our talent pool to contact you for future opportunities that we consider fitting your profile.

5) For how long do we retain your personal information?

Your personal information as a candidate will only be used and stored for as long as needed to fulfill our activities as indicated above.

  • If you accept a role at Bruker, the information collected during the recruitment process will form part of your ongoing staff member record and will be stored according to the data retention requirements applicable in the Country where you are employed.
  • If your candidacy is not successful, we will delete your information once we fill the position for which you applied, unless you agreed to be included in Bruker’s talent pool for future opportunities.
  • Depending on the applicable laws, we may retain your application information for a certain period to demonstrate that we have not discriminated you against candidates and that we have conducted the recruitment exercise fairly and in a transparent manner.

6) What are your rights?

Under most data privacy laws, you have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information. You can do so at any time in Your application account or by filling a request on our dedicated platform, or by contacting us at privacy@bruker.com should you have any questions or concerns about your privacy. We will verify the data privacy law applicable to you and fulfill your request or respond to your enquiry.

In some circumstances, you can object to the processing of your personal information and ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information or request the portability of your personal information.

If we process your personal information with your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing your consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing we conducted prior to your withdrawal, or the processing of your personal information based on any lawful processing grounds.

You have the right to complain to a data protection authority about our collection and use of Your personal information. If you are in the EU/EEA, you can contact your local data protection authority.

We respond to all requests we receive from individuals wishing to exercise their data protection rights in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CPRA) Privacy Rights Statement

If you are a California resident, California law provides you with the following rights with respect to your personal information:

When you exercise these rights and submit a request to us, we will verify your identity by asking you for your email address, telephone number, information about your agency’s contract or your direct relationship with Bruker. We also may use a third-party verification provider to verify your identity.

Your exercise of these rights will have no adverse effect on any future application.

For the 12-months period prior to the date of this Privacy Notice, Bruker has not sold any personal information, nor does it have any plans to do so in the future.

This Notice may be updated periodically to reflect any necessary changes in our privacy practices.
