AFM Basics and Hands-on Training (Multimode 8 & Dimension Icon 6)
During this 3-day training program, we will be covering the all the basics of AFM and how it is implimented on Bruker AFMs. This is an immense chance for AFM enthusiasts to get a hands-on experience on our flagship products like Multimode 8 and Dimension Icon AFMs.
If you are new to the system or need a refresher, you can choose to participate only in one or whole days, depending on your personal requirements.
The course covers basics of AFM including the theoratical approach of Contact mode, Tapping Mode and Bruker’s PeakForce TappingTM. Second and third day covers basic software usage, probe selection, probe installation, laser alignment, standard experiments in contact, tapping and ScanAsyst mode. A brief look into the analysis functions is also scheduled.
Day 1:
- Introduction to AFM
- Theoretical approach to Contact mode, Tapping Mode and PeakForce Tapping mode
- Introduction to Nanoscope Analysis and basic image processing
Day 2:
- Dimension Icon/Multimode 8 measurement setup
- Nanoscope software, explaining the parameters
- Probe mounting, laser alignment (Alignment station&shadow method) and cantilever tuning
- Contact and Tapping mode. Standard settings, parameter explanation etc.
- Hands on Training to the attendees
Day 3:
- ScanAsyst mode (pros and cons) Standard settings, parameter explanation etc.
- Measuring a force curve using Ramp function
- Open for discussions, attendees can practice on the instrument
Cost: INR.15000/-. Free and discounted seats available to some service contract customers.*
Conditions: Daily lunch included. Individuals are responsible for their own transportation and lodging. Registration closes 2 weeks (10 working days) before the training is scheduled to begin. The maximum number of participants is limited. If the class fills we will aim to schedule another training event in the future. If fewer than 3 people register, the course will be cancelled.

PFTUNA - Conductive AFM Measurements (Multimode 8 & Dimension Icon 6)

If you are familiar with our AFMs, you can choose to participate only the second day. The course covers basics of AFM including Contact mode, Tapping Mode and Bruker’s PeakForce TappingTM and also PFTUNA theory. Second day covers the hands-on training for the PFTUNA measurement.
Day 1:
- Introduction to AFM
- Introduction to Nanoscope Analysis and basic image processing
- Contact, Tapping mode and ScanAsyst mode (pros and cons). Standard settings, parameter explanation etc.
- Hands on Training to the attendees
Day 2:
- Dimension Icon/Multimode 8 PFTUNA measurement setup
- Nanoscope software, explaining the parameters
- PFTUNA, contact TUNA (also known as C-AFM)
- Hands on Training to the attendees
- Open for discussions, attendees can practice on the instrument
