Nanomechanical Test Instruments for SEM/TEM

Advanced Flexure Options

Enabling optimal performance and accuracy

Reduce Drift and Lower Noise Floor

Taken together, the innovative Direct Drive (DD) piezo flexure and robust Mechanically Amplified (MA) flexure offer researchers the most comprehensive range of testing capabilities to meet diverse research and application needs. Whether you require fine-scale precision or large displacement capacity, our solutions ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

NEW Direct Drive (DD) Piezo Flexure

This innovative flexure option provides improved displacement control for select experiments as well as the possibility for higher strain rates. DD Piezo Flexure uniquely offers:

  • Optimal Displacement Range: 30 µm – ideal for small-scale mechanical property testing.
  • Targeted Applications: Perfect for intrinsically displacement-controlled and high strain rate tests for pillar and particle compression, nanoindentation, and property mapping (XPM).
  • Superior Precision: Experience noise levels of less than 20 pm at 10 Hz on an anti‑vibration table inside an enclosed chamber.
  • Robust and Reliable: Suitable for high temperatures (over 1000°C) and cryogenic conditions.

Mechanically Amplified (MA) Flexure

Still the gold standard for displacement range, the MA Flexure option delivers:

  • Unmatched Displacement Range: 150 µm (PI 89) and 100 µm (PI 85E) – the highest available for any in-situ nanomechanical instrument.
  • Versatile Applications: Perfect for the deformation of large 3D structures such as 3D nanotube-based scaffolds, 3D mesostructured materials, porous structures, polymer and metal foams, and soft materials.
  • Precision Performance: Achieve greater than 50 pm noise level at 10 Hz on an anti‑vibration table inside an enclosed chamber.
  • Extreme Conditions: Designed to function flawlessly at high temperatures (over 1000°C) and cryogenic temperatures.
