High-end EDXRF spectrometer
Elemental analysis from C – Am
The S2 PUMA Series 2 with a single-position manual loading enjoys the same technical benefits as the S2 PUMA Series 2 XY Autochanger and S2 PUMA Series 2 Carousel.
It delivers a simple sample handling mechanism for low sample volumes and can be fitted with the fast HighSense™ detectors and the ergonomic TouchControl™.
Without the touchscreen it can be controlled remotely or via an external PC with the instrument control software SPECTRA.ELEMENTS.
High Performance for Small Sample Batches
Easy Operation and Shortest Training Time
Measure any sample in minutes: Solid, fused bead, pressed pellet, loose powder, liquid, bulk – simply load sample batches using the EasyLoadTM tray or place your bulk sample directly into the chamber. The S2 PUMA Series 2 offers the largest sample chamber with dimensions of 450 x 420 x 100 mm. Its carousel tray can hold mixed batches with up to 12 samples of 32, 40, or 51.5 mm in diameter or up to 18 samples of 40 mm in diameter.
The S2 PUMA Series 2 Carousel is the all-rounder among the benchtop EDXRF analyzers when it comes to sample versatility.
Any Sample Type
Small-Spot Analysis
SMART.QUANT FP
The S2 PUMA Series 2 with mapping-stage makes multi-spot quality monitoring an easy task. It lets you quantify the elemental composition of your sample or even the thickness of a coating with high accuracy and spatial resolution (down to 1 mm). The linear motion-drive positions the sample precisely and reproducible. The actual position can be recorded with an integrated HD camera.
The mapping stage extends the application range of the S2 PUMA Series 2 into semiconductors and coatings, where spatial resolution is required.
Inserts for various sample sizes are available, ranging from 40 mm to 152 mm in diameter. Customized inserts are available on request.
Key Benefits
WDXRF sample handling on a benchtop EDXRF unit – the S2 PUMA Series 2 XY Autochanger is equipped with a 20-position sample tray and sample grabber with liquid sample detection.
The instrument is ideal for larger sample volumes at a production line, where the S2 PUMA Series 2 can be operated with the integrated user-friendly TouchControl™ touchscreen.
Sample Handling
Power and Speed
Instrument Protection
The only benchtop EDXRF which can professionally be integrated into fully automated laboratories. The S2 PUMA Series 2 Automation delivers results on elemental analysis 24/7. The instrument can be connected either via conveyer belt or robot arm link-up to the preparation module. The sample feed interface is at the instrument’s backside, so that the XY Autochanger capabilities remain fully available. Buffer positions inside the instrument in addition to the EasyLoadTM XY tray ensure smooth handling of automated and out-of-line samples at any time.
The HD camera can be used for sample verification: Samples in automation rings run overnight are often not available any more in the morning when staff returns. As a helpful validation tool, the pictures taken automatically by the camera can help to identify e.g. a failed sample surface and thus provide valuable information to clarify suspicious analysis results.
The LIMS-compatible instrument can communicate through Bruker’s dedicated AXSCOM software package with process control units and ensures full integration into existing or new laboratory environments.
24/7 Production Control
Fast - Powerful - Accurate
The HighSense detectors are equipped with a fast 8k multi-channel analyzer (MCA) for high count rates and excellent energy resolution. The new HighSenseTM XP detector is the latest addition to the HighSense Silicon Drift Detector (SDD) generation of the S2 PUMA Series 2.
Thanks to an ultra-high transmission graphene window, the HighSense XP offers best-in-class sensitivity for all elements detectable by EDXRF. In conjunction with the new state-of-the-art Detector Profiling feature, the HighSense XP sets new standards for benchtop EDXRF instruments.
HighSenseTM turns Power into Speed
The direct excitation beam path of the S2 PUMA Series 2 makes full use of the high-power 50 Watt X-ray tube. Optimal excitation of all elements in the sample is guaranteed with up to 50 kV voltage, up to 2 mA current, closely-coupled beam optics, and a 10-position primary beam filter-changer. In combination with the HighSenseTM detector technology this pays back immediately: Better detection limits, higher precision, shorter measurement times!
SampleCare™ is a unique multi-layer system to protect vital instrument components from contamination. It protects the X-ray tube and the detector from spillage of liquid samples, from particles of solid samples, and from dust. The detector head is protected by DustShield™, an easy-to-replace cap with a high-transmission film. The tube is protected by the filter wheel. A sample type detection (XY Autochanger/Automation only) prevents the analysis of liquid samples, while the system is under vacuum.
SampleCare™ means high uptime and easy maintenance!
TouchControl™ is the S2 PUMA Series 2’s integrated touch screen for easiest instrument operation. The TouchControl user interface enables users with only minimal training to run routine measurements. The tiles on main screen make important functions easily available while restricting access to instrument configuration and calibrations.
SPECTRA.ELEMENTS is the powerful and intuitive spectrometer software for the S2 POLAR, the S2 PUMA Series 2 and the S6 JAGUAR. It provides a wide range of tools for full spectrometer control and was developed with the user in mind: Its integrated design avoids floating windows and its tab-based layout allows quick access to all functionality.
Optional Add-Ons
SMART-QUANT FP is offered as fully integrated component of the S2 PUMA Series 2’s instrument software package SPECTRA.ELEMENTS, delivering reliable elemental compositions for solid, fused, pressed, powdered or liquid material, even with minimal user input.
SMART-QUANT FP is set up to work in full Fundamental Parameter (FP) mode – this means no calibrations necessary!
