About the Course

This 2-day training course will cover basic principles and practical steps for powder XRD analysis, including theory, sample preparation, and software hands-on. The participants will learn to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis with DIFFRAC.EVA and DIFFRAC.TOPAS software packages.

  • DIFFRAC.EVA hands-on session
  • Search/Match strategies for qualitative phase analysis
  • Working with the COD and ICDD PDF database
  • Semi-quantitative analysis (SQUALL)
  • Advanced features and data reporting

Day 2 (Jul 2, Tues)

AM

  • Introduction to Rietveld refinement and DIFFRAC.TOPAS
  • Quantitative phase analysis
  • Crystallite size and microstructure analysis

PM

  • DIFFRAC.TOPAS hands-on session
  • Handling preferred orientation, microabsorption, amorphous content
  • Advanced features and data reporting

Training should not precede the installation of the system concerned.

Class sizes are limited, so that each participant receives individual attention and participates in all hands-on activities. Early registration is encouraged as registrations are accepted on a first-come/first-served basis.

Attendance fee

The course price includes course materials, lunch, and refreshments. Travel and accommodation are not included.

Cancellation

Registrations cancelled within 10 working days prior to the start of the course are subject to a cancellation fee of 30%. Registered persons not attending the course without having given prior notice will be fully charged. We reserve the right to cancel a course if there are insufficient registrations.
