Live from the Lab - S2 E5

What is Spark Optical Emission Spectrometry?

Since the commercial introduction of spark emission spectrometry in the early 20th century, this technique has quickly emerged as the workhorse of the metals industry. The complete chemical analysis (elemental composition) of alloys, including light elements such as carbon and nitrogen, is crucial information that determines the quality, price, and performance of the materials. OES is the most powerful technique to deliver this information with high precision, speed, and at low costs.

During this episode of Live from the Lab we will discuss the principals behind OES and explain why and to what extent it is superior to other analysis methods. We will go to the lab and see OES in action, learn how easy it is to operate, and what to consider for sample preparation.

Broadcast live from Bruker's YouTube channel once each month, our Live from the Lab streaming series explores X-ray Diffraction, X-ray Microscopy, and Elemental Analysis topics, with advice from applications experts who also answer questions that come in during the show.
