Power in an X-ray diffraction solution can be measured in many ways. Is there truly no replacement for displacement or does clever optimization result in higher signal? There is no area of XRD where this is more applicable than in X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD). Putting the most flux on the sample, pushing the background to near zero and efficiently detecting the desired signal all play a role in maximizing performance.
In this 3-part series of Live from the Lab we will explore the power, versatility, and accessibility of the D6 PHASER benchtop platform. This episode focuses on power and its application in XRPD experiments. We will weigh the benefits of higher generator power, dynamically optimized beam conditioning, top-class detection and sample geometry to uncover the ideal setup for powder diffraction measurements.
